First Female Driver For Sajha Yatayat

Sajha Yatayat Women Driver

Living in London, it is common to see women driving buses and taxis – not only during the day time but even during the night. It’s strange to know that elsewhere around the world, the news of a woman becoming a bus driver makes the news. Nonetheless, I see this as a wonderful step towards the right direction. We’ve seen Nepali women driving tempos, read about Nepal’s first female mahout and now Nepal’s iconic SAJHA YATAYAT will be welcoming its very first female bus driver Rebika Thapa. Rebika who has the experience of driving smaller vehicles will soon be driving the 55-seater SAJHA bus around the city.

Wonderful step by SAJHA – let’s hope she is also getting equal pay. On similar note – I wonder why the article on Setopati has not shared a photo of Rebika but instead chosen to share a photo of the bus. Hmm.. hopefully we will see a photo of Rebika driving the bus soon.
