Earth Hour Night in Folkestone on March 29

Earth-Hour-2014

The Nepalese community in Folkestone will be marking the upcoming Earth Hour on Saturday March 29 by observing a special one-off Earth Hour Night event at the Lemon Leaf Gurkha Restaurant. The worldwide movement organized by World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) encourages individuals and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour as a symbol for their commitment to the planet. It is also practiced with the intention to put pressure on policy makers and businesses to formulate environmentally friendly policies and implement them accordingly. The evening in Folkestone is scheduled to run between the hours of 7.30PM – 9.30PM with Folkestone based young and upcoming aspiring voices singing Nepali, English and Hindi songs. The confirmed performers are Ashim Rai, Ashik Gurung, Uma Magar, Simon Pun, Riti Rai and Ganesh Pun. Individuals from the local Nepali literary group will also be reading poems on nature and the mother Earth in the candle light dark.

Courtesy of the thriving local businesses owned by Nepalis, the event will have various attractive prizes on offer including a 2 Course meal, a trip to the hair salon for the ladies and gents and more!

PS. Lights out from 8.30PM – 9.30PM – will you??
